Let us be honest. There are some things in life that just rub us the wrong way. They can feel harsh or abrasive to our very being.
What to make of them?
“I would never be like that….” we may find ourselves saying when such a thing presents itself in our orbit.
For me, specifically in the past couple of years — this “thing” has been Virgo energies. What do I mean by that? In honour of today’s Full Moon in Virgo, let’s unpack.
Those I have known closely with strong Virgo qualities or natures tend to be incredibly discerning and precise with how they see things, how they like things, how things “should” be in their eyes. There is a right way of doing things, and these people know that way.
The beautiful thing about Virgo’s attention to detail is that it comes from a pure place. Where things are pristine and beautiful, appealing to the eye, the body, the soul — the entire being. Much like Nature itself. Virgo is a natural healer, and when this sense of “rightness” is channelled in its highest expression, we experience the health, peace and nourishment of Nature. Everything exactly as it should be, in its right place. Nothing missed, nothing forgotten. Perfect harmony.
The trouble with Virgo’s tendency towards perfection is that it can become controlling and critical when things aren’t quite meeting this high standard. When things are out of balance.
Paradoxically, Nature — Virgo’s true essence — can seem chaotic, even though it has a divine order and plan. Harmony is different than balance. When we try to control nature or fit it into a neat tidy predictable box, it can feel futile. Like trying to force a sunny day when it’s been raining all week.
Beauty is healing.
Nature is healing.
Harmony is healing.
Virgo is like the feeling after cleaning your house. You feel a visceral difference after clearing the clutter, putting things away in their right place, and creating a clean slate. Something shifts and it just feels better.
In Nature, there is always a harmonizing of opposites, of the different elements.
In the case of Virgo, its polar opposite is Pisces. The season we are currently in; the waters we are swimming in together for the next month. I have strong Piscean qualities, so it makes sense I can be easily irritated by Virgo — so different in so many ways!
Where Virgo is structure and organization, control, details, minutiae….
Pisces is formless, infinite, flowing, surrender, everything all at once….
Both are powerful, healing, and needed.
When balancing the opposites of Virgo & Pisces, we are looking at bridging the earthly and the spiritual. The sacred and the mundane.
Where is that sweet spot? How can we know when to flow/surrender and when to focus on the structure, where to place effort and discern limits?
This season of life is inviting us to follow our hearts and intuitive knowing {Pisces} when it comes to the daily practicalities and routines, the structure of how our lives are organized {Virgo}.
You may reflect on….
What is lighting you up and contributing to your overall health and well being?
What isn’t?
It’s time to eliminate the excess in order to create more positive flow in our lives.
We can make peace with the things we do not like. They might be our greatest teachers….
