Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always. The future enters into us, in order to transform itself in us, long before it happens.
-Rainer Maria Rilke
I met a soulmate this year. I don’t usually share about these things publicly, but it feels fitting for Pisces season. Very magical. I have been blessed to experience incredible, deep connections with a handful of special people in this life and it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful they are.
This was different from anything I’ve experienced before. The feeling of knowing and trusting someone completely, who appeared to be a complete stranger just days before. As if I had known them my whole life. There were infinite things to talk about and a feeling of deep shared understanding. I almost couldn’t believe this person was real was so in awe of our immediate soul connection, it was almost as if I’d dreamed them up!
Like all the best meetings, I met this person by chance on an unexpected trip across the country that I hadn’t planned to take to a particular location. If any small (or large) factor that led to us meeting would have been different, even slightly, we wouldn’t have crossed each other’s paths at all in this life. Or would we?
I still don’t know whether I’ll see him again. But I have a feeling…
We are both on our own journeys. Though we definitely met for a reason when we did ~ to see the true beauty (and terror) of our own souls reflected back to us by another. Isn’t that life? Bittersweet.
Endings, Beginnings
The thing about Pisces season is that it marks the end of a cycle. Before we begin anew again in spring, Aries season. This time teaches us of endings — and the new beginnings they inevitably usher us into. How nothing is final, even when it may feel that way. It’s all part of one big, continuous circle of life.
That endings are really always a new beginning waiting to emerge and reveal itself, like the wait between fall and spring.
Death and transcendence into the more spiritual realms fall into the Pisces’ domain. The wisdom of many lifetimes lived. Deep compassion and unconditional love, for all of life ~ the beauty and the terror, as Rilke so beautifully put it (I suggest you check out that poem, too).
Sometimes we need to wait for the rebirth and wisdom to come, but we can trust it will in its own good time.
What the caterpillar calls the end, the master calls the butterfly.
The Great Unknown
“Life is what happens while we’re busy making other plans….”
I’m sure we’ve all heard this before. How do you feel about it? Does it ring true?
How much control do we really have over how life goes? When are we to surrender to what is and when are we to enact our will in the direction of our choosing? Where is the balance in these? Perhaps one of life’s great paradoxes, that we must do both.
The old fate vs. free will debate. I would love to hear your thoughts and experience on this, so please do share below in the comments! What is your relationship with surrender like?
Sometimes, life plays cosmic jokes on us when we think we are in control of everything and how it will go ~ they can make us laugh, but more often they’ll make us cry. This is where surrender comes in.
Perhaps you are feeling the need for surrender right now. A sacred quality of surrender is necessary to the process of regeneration; surrendering to all of the suffering that must be endured in order to fully nurture and realize our own creative potential. Rather than pulling back from change out of fear, allow the eternally wise presence of something greater than yourself to guide you through whatever transition you are experiencing, so you may become who you are meant to be on the other side.
Many of us are currently leaving the known of one realm of life for the unknown of another.
There are karmic binds that keep us stuck in the known and familiar rather than liberating ourselves to enter the unknown.
We may no longer having the stability or comfort of the structures being left behind. There is complexity and difficulty in embracing the unknown and leaving what has been secure and familiar behind.
We may be asking ourselves, what aspects of the familiar need to be shed as we enter a new period of change in life?
Does the caterpillar fear becoming the butterfly? We know how to do this, even if it seems impossible right now.
We might remind ourselves in these moments face to face with the Great Unknown future that… “life is in the right, always. The future enters into us, in order to transform itself in us, long before it happens.”
Keep dreaming and imagining the future into being. Keep believing in your own becoming. You can’t do it wrong, trust that. And you’re right on time, always ♥️
With you on this wild journey!

Pisces New Moon Reflections:
(great for journaling on after your Yoga Nidra practice - below!)
What have you been dreaming of lately? During waking hours or sleeping.
What inner shadow work or physical-world work may you need to do to bring any special dreams/visions into reality?
Where might your wounds, pain, or sadnesses be preventing the New from breaking through? What wisdom do they hold for you?
What most enchants you? Inspires you? Fills you with life?
Who were you before the world told you who to be?
What kind of life do you want to create for the future?
What is your guiding ripple, word, feeling, intention (Sankalpa)? - see yoga nidra practice below to find out :)
