New Moon in Capricorn Yoga Nidra ~ The Longview
Share

Hello love,

Happy New Moon! Today is the first new moon of this calendar year, making it the absolute perfect time to begin really planting your new seeds of intention deep in the fertile ground for your year ahead. You’re right on time.

As always, following Nature’s rhythms, it’s not quite time yet for these seeds to begin sprouting or growing. It’s time to rest, dream, and vision in our dens. It’s time to nurture and nourish ourselves deeply and get still, so that we can feel the stirrings within. So that we can truly listen to where life is calling us next. And so that we are full of the potent life energy to grow & flourish in that direction when the time comes.

As I share in this Yoga Nidra (these are available every New and Full Moon for paid subscribers of Mother Nature’s Journal), this new moon falls in Capricorn. Capricorn energies balance and ground those of its opposite (Cancer ~ we had a powerful, emotion-filled Full Moon there right after Christmas). Strongly connected with both the Earth and Water elements, Capricorn energies invite us into themes of foundations, stability, support, wisdom, and staying power. Reflections on what we want to endure.

We will explore these in an embodied practice in this month’s New Moon Earth Nidra.

If you haven’t practiced Yoga Nidra before, it’s a deeply restorative practice, perfect for the times we’re living in and the current winter season. The practice helps us to access our profound inner wisdom, our inner elder.

When we regularly take the time to cleanse the windows of our inner perception, we can see with new eyes. Our normal waking-state perception of ourselves is usually not equipped to realize how much joy exists inside of us. And joy is profoundly nourishing & healing.

Yoga Nidra is an ancient deep relaxation technique that helps us enter an altered, deeper state of consciousness ~ the well within.

Much psychological research has been showing in recent decades that “peak experiences” are extremely healing and therapeutic. Major life changes and realizations, newfound confidence and creativity, unexpected solutions to baffling dilemmas, and a freedom from fear often suddenly come to us when we are in these altered brain states. Relief from long-standing depression and anxiety, chronic stress and exhaustion can also be experienced by regular practice.
